Faith Formation
The first catechists in any child’s life are the family members with whom he or she lives. What happens at home – both positive and negative – provides lessons for life. In the family, faith is shared as part of the unfolding of daily life. The home or “domestic church” provides a real place in which a child learns to live his or her faith as well as understanding it.

Our goal is to create a program of lifelong faith formation that is centered in and flows out of the events of Church life. It embraces all ages and generations, promotes faith growth at home, and promotes participation in Church life.

Grade Pre K through Grade 6
Faith Formation (Religious Education) classes are available for all families who are registered parishioners of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Classes are held on a weekly basis, Wednesdays, at 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM, and are available for children 4 years old (Pre K) through Grade 6. Grades 7-8
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Grade 7 and it is a 2-year preparation program. The youth of the parish receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 8. Confirmation classes are held for both grades at 6:45 PM on Wednesdays. Who teaches the Faith Formation Classes?
Parish volunteers, Catechists, teach the classes for grades Pre K through 8. To give the students the very best in quality catechesis - in organization and resources - these volunteers are given the opportunity to be professionally trained. The Catechists are also monitored and evaluated from time to time. All volunteers go through the Diocese of Bismarck Safe Environment Training and have background checks performed.

What is the cost to place a child in Parish Faith Formation?
A nominal fee per student is charged for the Faith Formation program.

- All volunteers go through the Diocese of Bismarck Safe Environment Training and have background checks performed.
- For no additional charge, parents may order a Faith and Life Family Guide if they are interested in going further with their child in their weekly faith formation lesson. The guide provides parents with a format for weekly sessions with their child to review the important points of the classroom lesson. There are also suggestions in this guide for parents to help their child live out what they’ve learned in class each week.

- PAYMENT INFORMATION
  The Faith Formation fee is $75 per child. After completing registration, please remit full or partial payment to the Office of Faith Formation at the address below. Make checks payable to: Cathedral of the Holy Spirit; write "Faith Formation" in the memo line.
